There's No Cure Like Travel

People think I'm crazy when I suggest traveling when you lose your job. But look at it this way - if you're getting severance (even just a little bit) there is still a little money coming in. Also, when are you going to have the next chance to take a vacation? Even if you manage to get a job next month, who knows when you'll have enough time saved up to go take time off. And last, I'm a firm believer that sitting around, doing nothing, going nowhere leads to depression. And being unemployed is depressing enough. Just because the paychecks stop doesn't mean that life does. Get out, do something, go somewhere.

Back in February this is what DC looked like:

But not for me, I'd purchased a cheap ticket to Los Angeles, called a few friends, and managed to make it on the last plane out of town before the airports shut down before another huge snow fall (while I was gone another 30 inches fell).

I was lucky enough to stay with two groups of friends who knew exactly what I was going through. Dearest friends Jason, Marae, and Beth showed me a wonderful time and cheered me up to no end.

This is what California looked like:

Slightly overcast, but still fantastic - Santa Barbara
